કુતુબમિનાર દિલ્હીમાં આવેલો છે. તે સલ્તનતકાલીન સ્થાપત્યનો શ્રેષ્ઠ અને ઉત્કૃષ્ટ નમૂનો છે.

આ ભવ્ય મિનારાનું બાંધકામ ૧૨મી સદીમાં ગુલામ વંશના સ્થાપક કુતબુદ્દીન ઐબકે શરૂ કરાવ્યું હતું.

કુતબુદ્દીનનું આકસ્મિક અવસાન થતાં તેના જમાઈ અને ઉત્તરાધિકારી સુલ્તાન ઇલ્તુત્મિશે આ બાંધકામ ઈ.સ. ૧૨૧૦માં પૂર્ણ કરાવ્યું હતું.

કુતુબમિનાર પાંચ માળનો છે. તેની કુલ ઊંચાઈ ૭૨.૫ મીટર (72.5m) છે, જે તેને ભારતનો સૌથી ઊંચો પથ્થરનો સ્તંભ મિનારો બનાવે છે.

આ મિનારાનો ભૂતળનો (બેઝ) ઘેરાવો ૧૩.૭૫ મીટર છે, જે ઊંચાઈ પર જતાં ઘટીને માત્ર ૨.૭૫ મીટર જેટલો જ રહી જાય છે.

આ ગગનચુંબી ઈમારતના નિર્માણમાં ગોળ, લાલ પથ્થર અને સફેદ આરસપહાણ (માર્બલ) નો અદ્ભુત ઉપયોગ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.

મિનારાની સપાટી પર અત્યંત સુંદર રીતે પવિત્ર કુરાનની આયતો કંડારવામાં (કોતરવામાં) આવેલી છે.

તેના અજોડ રચના-કૌશલ્યના કારણે કુતુબમિનાર વિશ્વના શ્રેષ્ઠ પથ્થરના મિનારાઓમાં ગૌરવભર્યું સ્થાન ધરાવે છે.

Located in Delhi, the Qutub Minar is considered an outstanding masterpiece of Sultanate-era architecture.

The construction of this colossal tower was initiated by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the founder of the Slave Dynasty.

Following Aibak's sudden demise, the incomplete structure was finished by his son-in-law and successor, Sultan Iltutmish, in the year 1210 AD.

This impressive minaret comprises 5 storeys. With a total height of 72.5 Meters, it holds the title of the tallest stone tower in India.

The tower has a wide base that tapers towards the top. Its base circumference is 13.75 meters, which narrows down to just 2.75 meters at its peak.
