4. ચા અને કૉફીની ખેતી (Tea & Coffee Plantation)
🍃 ભારતનાં મુખ્ય પીણાં : ચા અને કૉફી
ભારતમાં પીણાં તરીકે ચા અને કૉફીનો બહોળા પ્રમાણમાં ઉપયોગ થાય છે. બોર્ડ પરીક્ષા માટે આ પાકોની ભૌગોલિક અનુકૂળતાઓ નીચે મુજબ છે:
(૧) ચાનો પાક (Tea)
- 🌡️ આબોહવા અને તાપમાન: ચા એ ઉષ્ણ અને સમશીતોષ્ણ કટિબંધીય છોડ છે. તેના પાક માટે 20° થી 30° સે. તાપમાન અનુકૂળ રહે છે.
- 🌧️ વરસાદ: ચાના પાક માટે 200 સેમી સુધીનો વરસાદ જરૂરી છે, જે વર્ષભર ઝાપટાં રૂપે વરસતો રહેવો જોઈએ.
- 🌱 જમીનની અનુકૂળતા: પાણી સહેલાઈથી વહી જાય તેવી ઢોળાવવાળી અને લોહતત્ત્વવાળી જમીન ખૂબ માફક આવે છે.
- 📍 ઉત્પાદક રાજ્યો: અસમ, પશ્ચિમ બંગાળ, ઉત્તરાખંડ, ઉત્તર પ્રદેશ, તમિલનાડુ અને કર્ણાટક. ભારતમાં 75% ચાનું ઉત્પાદન માત્ર અસમ અને પશ્ચિમ બંગાળ કરે છે.
- ✨ અન્ય માહિતી: ચીન પછી ભારત ચાનું સૌથી વધુ ઉત્પાદન કરતો દેશ છે. છોડ પરથી પત્તીઓને ખૂબ જ કુશળતાપૂર્વક ચૂંટવામાં આવે છે.
(૨) કૉફીનો પાક (Coffee)
- 🌤️ ઉછેરની સ્થિતિ: કૉફીના પાકને પહાડી ઢોળાવ પર સૂર્યનો સીધો તડકો ન પડે તે રીતે મોટા વૃક્ષની છાંયામાં ઉછેરવામાં આવે છે.
- 🌡️ તાપમાન: આ પાક માટે 15° થી 28° સે. તાપમાન જરૂરી છે.
- 🌧️ વરસાદ: કૉફીના પાકને 150 થી 200 સેમી જેટલો વરસાદ માફક આવે છે.
- 🌱 જમીનની અનુકૂળતા: કૉફી માટે પર્વતીય ઢોળાવવાળી જમીન અનુકૂળ આવે છે.
- 📍 ઉત્પાદક રાજ્યો: ભારતમાં કર્ણાટક, કેરળ અને તમિલનાડુમાં કૉફી વધારે થાય છે. કર્ણાટકનો 'કુર્ગ' પ્રદેશ કૉફીના વધુ ઉત્પાદન માટે જાણીતો છે.
🍃 Major Beverage Crops of India : Tea & Coffee
Tea and Coffee are widely consumed beverage crops in India. The geographical conditions required for their cultivation are as follows:
(1) Tea Crop
- 🌡️ Climate & Temperature: Tea is a tropical and temperate plant. A temperature between 20°C to 30°C is ideal for its cultivation.
- 🌧️ Rainfall: It requires up to 200 cm of rainfall, falling in the form of showers throughout the year.
- 🌱 Soil Requirements: Sloping land where water flows easily, and iron-rich soil is highly suitable.
- 📍 Producing States: Assam, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Assam and West Bengal alone produce 75% of India's tea.
- ✨ Other Info: India is the second-largest tea producer after China. Tea leaves are plucked very skillfully.
(2) Coffee Crop
- 🌤️ Growing Condition: Coffee is grown on mountain slopes under the shade of large trees so that direct sunlight does not fall on the plants.
- 🌡️ Temperature: A temperature of 15°C to 28°C is required.
- 🌧️ Rainfall: It requires 150 to 200 cm of rainfall.
- 🌱 Soil Requirements: Mountainous sloping land is highly favorable.
- 📍 Producing States: Grown majorly in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The 'Coorg' region of Karnataka is famous for high coffee production.
