Board exams can make even sincere students nervous. You may have completed the syllabus, solved practice papers, and revised every chapter, yet one small mistake in the exam hall can reduce your score. This happens often in GSEB Std 12 Commerce. Students usually do not lose marks because they know nothing. They lose marks because they misread a question, forget a formula, skip a heading, or hurry through the last section.

The positive side is that these errors are avoidable. With regular written practice and a little more attention, you can protect many valuable marks. Here are some common Commerce subject mistakes and practical Board exam tips for the Gujarat board exams.

Accountancy: Read, Check and Present Properly

Accountancy is a scoring subject, but careless work can affect the entire answer.

Students should read MCQs twice, especially questions related to partnership, capital proportion, and profit-sharing ratio.

“MCQમાં ભાગીદારો સરખા પ્રમાણમાં નફો વહેંચતા હોય તેવા પ્રશ્નોમાં નફાનું પ્રમાણ, મૂડીનું પ્રમાણ અને આપેલી અન્ય વિગતોનું ખાસ ધ્યાન રાખવું જોઈએ.”

Do not select an answer only because one option looks familiar. Read every word and check what the question is actually asking.

In Company Final Accounts, totals and presentation also matter.

“કંપનીના વાર્ષિક હિસાબમાં ઊભું પાકું સરવૈયું તૈયાર કરવું, બંને બાજુનો કુલ સરખો કરવો અને કુલ રકમની નીચે બે લીટી દોરવી જોઈએ.”

Students also forget complete titles.

Always keep five minutes to recheck totals, headings and adjustments.

Statistics: Formulas Must Be Strong

Statistics becomes easier when formulas are remembered correctly. Many students know the method but use the wrong formula.

“ભાગ ૧માં બધા સૂત્રો યાદ રાખવા જોઈએ. સહસંબંધનું સૂત્ર નિયતસંબંધના પ્રશ્નમાં ન લખાઈ જાય તેની કાળજી રાખવી. ભાગ ૧ના દરેક પ્રકરણમાં સૂત્રો ખૂબ મહત્વના છે. એકવાર સૂત્રો પાકા થઈ જાય પછી ભાગ ૧માં સારા ગુણ મેળવી શકાય છે.”

Make a small formula notebook and revise it daily. Write formulas from memory instead of only reading them.

For Part 2:

“ભાગ ૨માં પ્રમાણ્ય વિતરણ, લોગ ટેબલ વગેરેમાંથી જવાબ કેવી રીતે શોધવો તે બરાબર સમજવું જોઈએ અને મૂલ્ય શોધતી વખતે ભૂલ ન કરવી.”

Check the row, column and decimal value twice before using the table value.

BA/OC: Keep Points in the Correct Order

In BA and OC, students often forget points or change the sequence of process-based answers.

“જવાબમાં મુદ્દા ભૂલાઈ ન જાય તેનું ધ્યાન રાખવું. ખાસ કરીને પ્રક્રિયા અને પદ્ધતિ જેવા પ્રશ્નોમાં મુદ્દા ચોક્કસ ક્રમમાં યાદ રાખવા જોઈએ. તેમાં આડો-અવળો ક્રમ ન કરવો.”

Learn headings first, then practise writing the explanation. Use numbering and underline keywords. A clear point-wise answer is easier for the examiner to understand.

SP and CC: Formats and Numbers Matter

In Commercial Correspondence, letter format can decide your marks.

“CC વિભાગમાં પત્રનું યોગ્ય માળખું યાદ રાખવું જોઈએ. જો માળખા પ્રમાણે પત્ર લખવામાં આવે તો ૫માંથી ૫ ગુણ મેળવી શકાય છે. મેમો, નોટિસ વગેરેના માળખાં પણ બરાબર યાદ રાખવા જોઈએ.”

Practise complete letters, memos and notices. Do not forget the date, address, subject, salutation, closing and signature.

In SP:

“SP વિભાગમાં સભા સંબંધિત વર્ષો, સમયગાળો, કેટલી વખત સભા યોજાય અને અન્ય આંકડાકીય માહિતી બરાબર યાદ રાખવી જોઈએ.”

Prepare one separate page for years, time limits, meeting frequency and other numbers.

Economics: Use Facts, Graphs and Proper Points

Economics answers should be direct and well organised.

“માથાદીઠ આવક અને ગરીબી સંબંધિત આંકડા મહત્વના છે. ગ્રાફ યોગ્ય રીતે દોરતા આવડવો જોઈએ અને મુદ્દાવાર પ્રશ્નોના જવાબ યોગ્ય ક્રમમાં લખવા જોઈએ.”

Do not guess figures. Revise important data from the textbook. While drawing graphs, label both axes, give a title and use a ruler. For theory questions, write the answer in points instead of one long paragraph.

Gujarati and English: Grammar Needs Regular Practice

Language subjects can improve your overall percentage, but only when grammar and time management are handled properly.

“ગુજરાતી અને અંગ્રેજીમાં વ્યાકરણ પર ખૂબ ધ્યાન આપવું જોઈએ. ગુજરાતીમાં ખાસ કરીને ગદ્ય અને પદ્યમાંથી પૂછાતા પ્રશ્નોના જવાબ લખવાના વિભાગમાં વધુ કાળજી રાખવી. સારાંશ જેવા પ્રશ્નો માટે સમયની યોગ્ય ફાળવણી કરીને શક્ય તેટલો સારો જવાબ લખવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરવો.”

In English, check spelling, tense, punctuation and sentence structure. In Gujarati, read prose and poetry questions carefully. Keep enough time for summary writing and final revision.
